floats was formed in 2017 as a collective project driven by seven musicians from Sweden and Norway.

Always creating in the moment as a group, together they have bent the sounds of jazz, k-pop, impressionism and rock into one unique intoxicating sound resulting in energizing and varied music that leaves a lasting impression on listeners.

On August 22, 2020, floats debuted with the album Roadwork Ahead on Sonde Records—
an eight-track release of pop inspired jazz/fusion that takes the listener on a journey and delivers an energy boost in the form of bold beats, sizzling horn riffs, intricate solos, lyrical melodies, and multifaceted lyrics. With widely different backgrounds and influences such as funk, electronic music, jazz, soul, and K-pop they created a sound that’s hard to pin down but has been described by fans as “Stevie Wonder meets Esbjörn Svensson Trio”.

Their second album Filament (2024) is a more refined production that further explores their concept and incorporates dreamlike sound textures, but still keeping the same strong identity and playful nature leaning into different new concepts with every song.
