BEQ is a genre-crossing jazz project founded by guitarist Andreas Bokros in late 2021. With an electronic, beat-driven, and powerful sound, the band explores a musical landscape where composition and improvisation merge into a balanced and organic whole.
The music draws inspiration from 1970s and 1980s fusion bands such as Weather Report and Steps Ahead. BEQ’s soundscape also carries echoes of J.S. Bach’s counterpoint, the intensity of Animals As Leaders, and the tonal ideals of the contemporary jazz scene.
The debut album The Common Denominator was released on January 11, 2025, and received a strong review by Eric Porter in the well-established magazine Sea of Tranquility.

”… the electric piano always provides the perfect backing for solo flights, a sound combination I never tire of hearing. Then that trumpet kicks in, lending a tonal quality that provides a freshness to the proceedings”
”…they’ve recorded a great sounding fusion album for 2025”.
